Pointing out rising population in cities, diminishing natural resources and challenges of climate change, Topbas said, "we are all aboard the same ship, we are all members of a global family. So, problems are common."
Topbas also said that U.S. mayors had always taken an "innovative and pioneering" role, adding, "for instance, you pushed federal government to assume a spearheading role on reducing greenhouse gas emission. As the UCLG, we were inspired by your stance while writing down our manifest on the city of 2030."
Following the meeting in Baltimore, Topbas proceeded to Washington where he met representatives of Turkish organizations and visited the Assembly of Turkish-American Associations.
