Chenango Memorial Hospital is celebrating the completion of a renovation project. It includes the addition of a new x-ray machine at its building that houses orthopedics, pediatrics, surgery and the walk-in. Chobani's Shepherd's Gift Foundation donated $250,000 to the hospital so it could buy the machine. 5 other foundations donated a combined $300,000 so a small addition could be built to house the new equipment. It will also allow the hospital's campus to be reconfigured.
Dr. Drake Lamen says, "We've relocated some of family physicians next door to be with some of the other primary care doctors. That's allowed us to do some reorganization of services so we were certified as a patient centered medical home for our Norwich primary care."
The other foundations that contributed to the project are the UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital Foundation, Roger Follett Foundation, The Greater Norwich Foundation, the Mead Foundation and the RC Smith Foundation.
