Turkish Exports to the US Boosted amid European Stagnation

Image Turkish exports to the U.S. have skyrocketed over the past five years, reaching an astounding $6.3 billion in 2014, a data sheet compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute revealed last Friday. Turkey's exports to the U.S. increased over 12 percent in 2014, making it the sixth biggest purchaser of Turkish goods last year.

Buzz Surrounds Relocation of Coke's Secret Formula

The brand-brandishing companies behind these secrets all know this. But perhaps none better than Coca-Cola, which on Thursday was all over Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to announce that it was physically moving its secret formula from a SunTrust Bank vault in Atlanta to a vault in a new exhibit at Coke's World of Coca-Cola tourist attraction in downtown Atlanta.

"The whole point of a trade secret is that you know something that no one else does," says Ted Ryan, archivist at Coca-Cola.

Turkish Airlines Orders 15 Boeing 737 Aircraft

ImageTurkish Airlines on Friday announced that it has decided to order 15 Next-Generation Boeing 737 aircraft in a deal valued at more than $1.2 billion.

The order of the Istanbul-based carrier compromises of ten 737-800s and five 737-900ER aircraft. They have an average list-price value of more than $1.2 billion, although the companies did not release how much was actually paid.

Boeing said it will deliver all of the Turkish Airlines new Next-Generation 737s with the Boeing Sky Interior. This new interior introduces larger overhead stowage bins with a new design that provides more open space in the cabin.

The new interior also provides a soft blue sky overhead simulated by light-emitting diode (LED) lighting and features modern, sculpted sidewalls and window reveals to draw passengers' eyes to the view outside the window, as well as cove lighting and curving architecture.

Chinese Steelmakers Return to Purchase Scrap from US

Image It is reported that Chinese steelmakers have started to purchase American scrap, since the latter switches to Asian market from Turkey. Recently, Shagang placed an order for 3 batches of HSM 1&2 from America at the strike price of USD 495 per tonne CFR. Disappointed by the low quotations offered by Turkish Purchasers, US scrap suppliers shift to Asian market. As luck would have it, Japanese scrap price swells continuously at the moment forcing Chinese buyer to choose other competitive replacement.

Last week, Japanese heavy scrap 2 is quoted at USD 500 per tonne to USD 510 per tonne CFR; heavy scrap at USD 520 per tonne CFR. Heavy scrap in Chinese domestic market stays at USD 565 per tonne to USD 574 per tonne.

Since mid-January, Chinese steelmakers presents inactively in the market. This time, American may spur up their passion.
