Discovery Adds 3D to Turkish Push
Discovery Networks is expanding its 3D output in Europe with a programming launch on Turkish pay-TV platform DigiTurk. Discovery’s 3D programming will be available on DigiTurk’s dedicated 3D channel from today. This is Discovery’s first 3D deal in mainland Europe and is similar to the one previously signed in the UK with BSkyB.
Discovery will offer Turkish viewers programming from its US 3D joint venture 3Net, including travel series Forgotten Planet, crime programme I Almost Got Away With It and one-off special Oceana Air Show.
DigiTurk subscribers will also now be able to access Discovery content including Mythbusters and American Chopper through its VoD platform.
The move is the latest expansion in Turkey by Discovery Networks CEEMEA. In February it expanded its carriage in the country significantly by launching Discovery, Animal Planet and Discovery Science on DigiTurk, and those three plus Discovery World and ID: Investigation Discovery on Teledunya.
