Chobani Looking To Expand Market For Greek Yogurt

Currently, the U.S.D.A. doesn't allow greek yogurt in schools because serving size is defined by nutrition and not by protein.

"The positive things for the kids it would deliver nutrition, high protein, no preservative and this will be beneficial for the kids and twin falls and the community” said CFO Jim McConeghy, Chobani.

Currently, more than six hundred people work at the one million square foot plant in Twin Falls.

“Our plant is at a quarter of its capacity, any new product and increase of demand will certainly have an impact on what we produce here” said Melissa Stagnaro, Chobani.

A decision waiting to be made by the U.S.D.A.

That could bring more jobs to the area and yogurt to schools across the gem state.

Chobani is expecting the U.S.D.A to approve a nutrition pilot program in four states by late fall.
