Image A double penthouse combination at the glass-stacked condominium tower owned by Alexico Group and located at 56 Leonard Street in Tribeca, has been purchased for over $56 million by an anonymous buyer.  The gigantic unit is a whopping 11,892 square feet, and encompasses two full-floor condos on the 53rd and 54th floors. The deluxe apartment features multiple terraces, with a total of 3,300 square feet of balcony space.  measure a whopping 11,892 square feet with multiple terraces and balconies totaling 3,300 square feet. In June 2013, the buyer, who property records identified as South Shore Investments LLC, went into a contract for both units and paid $55.6 million for the huge space.
The initial asking price for Penthouse 54 was $26.5 million, and the corporation paid $4,366 per square foot, which is a total of $23.98 million, just a couple million below that original price.

According to The Real Deal, “The 5,492-square-foot unit is currently configured with four bedrooms, a conservatory and library, plus two terraces and two balconies spanning 1,600 square feet. Penthouse 53 — the larger of the two units with 6,400 square feet and 1,700 square feet of outdoor space — sold for $29.1 million, or $4,543 per square foot, property records show. It was asking $28.5 million.”

Last year buyers finally began closing on their units at the 145-unit condominium, which was over three years after sales started at the glass tower that looks like a Jenga game board. Just one unit is left to be sold, which is a penthouse across half-a-floor with an asking price of $4,785 per square foot, or a total of $17.8 million.

The site was purchased for $136.5 million by Alexico, which is led by Izak Senbahar. Construction began in 2007 on the 60-story tower, but was halted during the financial crisis. The tower was designed by Herzog & de Meuron. In 2013, Hines was brought on by the developer as a partner. In March of that same year is when sales launched. Sales are being handled by Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group. (Charles Bernstein, http://jewishvoiceny.com)
