Turkish Aksa Park/Meyko Donates Outdoor Fitness Equipment to Snellville, GA

Image Mayor Kelly D. Kautz is excited to announce the latest enhancement to Snellville's Briscoe Park with the donation and installation of new outdoor fitness equipment on the walking trail. The purchase and installation of the equipment was made possible by a generous 100% donation from Aksa Park/Meyko Outdoor Fitness Equipment, a Turkish based company, with no costs to the citizens of Snellville. The addition of this new equipment will provide a unique fitness venue for the entire community, young and old and will thereby contribute to improving the health and quality of life for the citizens of Snellville.
Mayor Kautz was able to secure this donation after her travels abroad this past summer to Turkey with the Istanbul Center. The City of Snellville hopes to serve as a showcase for the outstanding workmanship of Aksa Park and its equipment. The partnership between the City of Snellville and Aksa Park is another example of the State of Georgia's blossoming relationship with the Republic of Turkey.

The unveiling of the new outdoor fitness equipment comes just weeks after Governor Deal and the Georgia General Assembly honored and recognized the importance of the work of organizations such as the Istanbul Center in strengthening the relationships between the State of Georgia and the Republic of Turkey.

The use of outdoor fitness equipment has been trending upward recently, likely due to the economy as no gym membership fees are required to use the equipment. Abroad Mayor Kautz witnessed the use of outdoor fitness equipment in most parks. The machines use bodyweight and can be used for both strength-training and cardio exercise. The equipment is first-come, first-served, free, and doesn't require any pre-registration or notification you too can get a great workout in with friends and family. Aksa Park/Meyko Outdoor Fitness Equipment will initially be donating 5 pieces of equipment which will replace old and broken equipment that the City currently owns. Eventually, the City will purchase more pieces of equipment as they complete the fitness trail in the final stage of the Briscoe Park Master Plan.

A formal unveiling of the new outdoor fitness equipment will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, March 4th at Briscoe Park. Representatives from Aksa Park will be in attendance along with local officials and the public is invited to attend.

Mayor Kautz hopes that the community will take advantage of the outdoor fitness equipment at Briscoe Park to improve health and wellness in 2013 and years to come and that the relationship with the City of Snellville and its friends from the Republic of Turkey will be cherished and continue to grow.
