Turkey, Mauritania Sign Pact on Security Cooperation

After their meeting, Sahin told reporters that Turkey and Mauritania were determined to boost their relations particularly in security, population, local administration and similar areas.

"This agreement envisages cooperation against terrorism, organized crime, cyber-crimes, historical artifact trafficking, illicit drug trafficking, human trafficking, illegal migration, and illegal arms trade," Sahin said.

Sahin said Mauritania could be added to police training programs in Turkey, and express readiness to share know-how and experiences with Mauritania about population and citizenship regulation and local administrations.

Also speaking to reporters, Boilil said Mauritania's doors were always open to Turkish businessmen, and noted that Turkey and Mauritania had a significant economic cooperation.

In April 2010, Turkish and Mauritanian interior ministries signed a memorandum of understanding on assistance in fight against terrorism, security, sister city relations and local administrations.
