Adana & Houston Partnercity Agreement

Image Texas Turkish American Chamber of Commerce (TTACC) facilitated a Partner City Agreement between the Metropolitan City of Adana and the City of Houston. Adana and Houston continued discussing this issue for some time which resulted in the partnership agreement. Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zihni Aldirmaz and Mayor Edward Gonzalez signed the agreement.
This partnership became the second strongest connection with Turkey after the sister city agreement with Istanbul in 1988. Adana is the fifth largest city with a population of 2.5 million in southern Turkey and also the leading city for energy and health, as mentioned by Mayor Aldirmaz at the Ceremony. He indicated that this relationship will enhance the trade between the two cities.

Within the province of Adana,8 kilometers east of Adana City, in the District of Sarıçam the largest United States Air Force Base within Turkey is located, known as "Incirlik Air Base". The District Mayor of Sarıçam was also part of the visiting delegation to Houston and our office, and has expressed his gratitude for establishing such a relationship between the two cities of Houston and Adana.

He said they already have thousands of Americans in his District and this relationship will strengthen the ties not only between those cities but also between our countries in terms of trade, culture and education. Mayor Pro Tem Gonzales is also expressed the importance of such a strategic partner city agreement between these two dynamic cities and would like to see the fruits of this relationship soon.

Both leaders thanked TTACC for facilitating this relationship. Adana Delegation had 20 people with 13 companies and will explore trade relationships with their counterparts.
