Turkish Businessman to Invest Up To $2.5 Billion in East Java, Indonesia

The Turkish businessman, Emin Hitay is further said to plan additional projects as well as two other regions in East Java, at Mount Lamongan in Probolinggo and Raung in Banyuwangi, so East Java Governor Soekarwo after a visit by the Turkish group.
Hintay through PT Hintay Renewable Energy chose Java as a location for development. Soekarwo claimed to have received permission from the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Wacik for exploration. The investment by the Turkish group is expected to bring investments of up to $2.5 billion dollar to the region.
The geothermal power generation potential at Mount Bromo is estimated at 500 MW. The total potential for the three areas now being explored is estimated at 1,100 MW. The company is now planning an exploration survey, which is to take about 1-2 years. The planned survey will covers aspects of geology, geochemistry, and geophysics. In addition to geothermal exploration, it is hoped that there will be a transfer of knowledge between Turkey and Indonesia.
