The 14th Annual Boston Turkish Film Festival

Image The MFA Film Program and the Turkish American Cultural Society of New England are proud to present the 14th Annual Boston Turkish Film Festival, March 19 to April 5, 2015.  This year’s 23 film-program continues the tradition of highlighting works by emerging and established Turkish filmmakers.  The festival opens on March 19 with Nuri Bilge Ceylans’s film, Winter Sleep, winner of Palme d’Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

“Boston Turkish Film Festival is proud to present another solid program this year,” says Erkut Gömülü, founding director of the festival. “The festival is making significant contribution to introduce Turkish cinema and new generation of filmmakers to the film enthusiasts in the U.S.”

The Boston Turkish Film Festival Award for Excellence in Turkish Cinema will be presented to director Onur Ünlü on March 20 after the screening his latest film Let’s Sin.

Legendary director Ömer Lütfi Akad (1916 - 2011) will be remembered during the festival with a screening of his acclaimed film Bride (1973) on April 5. This is the North American premiere of this digitally restored version. The film’s leading actress, Hülya Koçyiğit, one of the most acclaimed actresses of the contemporary Turkish cinema, will be present for a discussion after the screening.
