Turks March in New York to Mark 'Turkish Day'
Saturday saw the 34th edition of the Turkish Day Festival, an all-day event held annually in New York that promotes Turkey and Turkish culture. Hundreds of Turks, along with other Turkic peoples residing in the United States, marked the traditional Turkish Day on Saturday with celebrations in New York.
Carrying Turkish flags and wearing red and white, Turkish-Americans and their friends met at the corner of 53rd Street and Madison Avenue in Manhattan to march to Dag Hammarskjold Park.
The crowd gathered at Dag Hammarskjold Park following the parade for a series of activities such as Turkish folk dances by performers who had arrived from Turkey.
The parade was organized by the Federation of Turkish American Associations (TADF). TADF President Atilla Pak offered his thanks to everyone who helped with the organization of the parade. (BGNNews.com | Istanbul)
