The Ozmens Receive Honorary Doctorates from UNR
Reno, Nev. — The Sparks-based company Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has been in the spotlight recently mainly for their work for the Mars 2020 project and the Dream Chaser Shuttle as part of the International Space Station. But this Friday, Eren and Fatih Ozmen, president and CEO, respectively, of SNC, are being honored by the College of Science at the University of Nevada. The husband and wife team are loyal alum to UNR and role models to the community as their company has focused on national security interests, space exploration, STEM interest in young people, and supports local education.

Target (TGT - Get Report) won't just be selling protein-packed Greek yogurt down the aisles at one of its newest small format stores. Target tells TheStreet it will open a Chobani cafe at its new two-level, 45,000 square foot Tribeca store set to debut in New York City in October. The menu at the roughly 1,100-square-foot cafe will feature made to order Mediterranean themed sandwiches, salads and Greek yogurt dishes. Chobani will also serve fresh-pressed juices, Greek yogurt-based fruit and veggie drinks, coffee and lunch-friendly dips. The cafe will be operated and staffed by Chobani, who will also be responsible for designing the cafe's menu.

The partnership will enable Sabanci University Executive MBA students to attend a two-week Executive Education leadership program at Columbia Business School in New York. The cooperation agreement between Sabanci University School of Management and Columbia Business School will enable Sabanci University Executive MBA students to attend a two-week leadership program in New York. Participants will attend lectures by Columbia Business School faculty and visit companies in the business capital of the world to gain a better understanding of the global business environment. 
On May 20-21, 2016, dog enthusiasts can observe of one of the world’s oldest canine breeds at the Kangal Dog Club of America’s Specialty Show in Rockport, MA. The single breed dog show will take place at the Windhover Center for the Performing Arts and feature approximately a dozen registered Turkish Kangal dogs from around the country. Following United Kennel Club (UKC) guidelines, handlers and dogs will make their way around the ring in various classes under the appraising eye of a UKC-certified judge from Belmont, MA. 
A Turkish-Iranian gold trader pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to charges that he and others conspired to conduct hundreds of millions of dollars in financial transactions to help the Iranian government or other entities evade U.S. sanctions. Reza Zarrab, a dual citizen of Turkey and his native Iran, entered the plea at a hearing before Judge Richard Berman in U.S. District Court in Manhattan. He was arrested last month in Miami. 
TCA provided a $5,000 grant to the Advisory Council for Bosnia and Herzegovina (ACBH) to support an ACBH delegation visit from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) to the United States. The delegation, which visited Washington, DC April 18-24, 2016, was comprised of Munira Subasic, President of the Mother's Action of the Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves; Murat Tahirovic, President of the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide; and Elmina Kulasic, Senior Advisor at the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide. 
NEW YORK — “I saw my husband die before my eyes.” Those are the words a grieving wife told the New York Times after she turned on the TV one night and saw a program airing footage of her husband’s final moments, footage to which she had never given her consent. That television program has resulted in a $2.2 million settlement with the federal government over the “egregious disclosure” of patients’ health information, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said Thursday. New York Presbyterian Hospital gave the ABC reality TV show “NY Med,” starring Dr. Mehmet Oz, what the HHS called “unfettered access to its healthcare facility.” 
Thousands of Turkish Americans and people from other nations marched on April 24 to say 'stop' to the defamation campaign against Turkey regarding the 1915 events and call for peace and solidarity with Turkey, in a counter-protest against Armenians. The march was organized by the Turkish-American National Steering Committee (TASC) and took place in Washington D.C. "Officially we had more than 11,000 attendees," the Steering Committee said on its Twitter account Sunday. The walk, which included different ethnicities and religions, started from the White House and continued until the Turkish embassy in Washington. Thousands of peoples from around the world also tweeted the hashtag #letHistoryDecide. 
DeWITT, N.Y. — The founder and CEO of yogurt-maker Chobani is one of two executives that the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) will add to its Wall of Fame next month. Both Hamdi Ulukaya and Jim Beckman, president of Crucible Industries LLC, will accept their awards at MACNY’s 103rd annual dinner on May 19 at the Oncenter, MACNY said in a news release. The organization will recognize both men with plaques on the Manufacturers Wall of Fame at MACNY headquarters in DeWitt. Since purchasing a yogurt plant in 2005, Ulukaya has led Norwich–based Chobani to “become the top-selling Greek yogurt brand in the United States.” 
Borusan Mannesmann Boru Sanayi & Ticaret AS, a Turkish producer of oil and gas pipelines, expects demand to pick up in the U.S. toward the end of the year as shale producers replace aging equipment. Borusan Mannesmann’s plant in Houston will produce 100,000 metric tons of pipes in 2016, up from about 70,000 tons last year, Agah Ugur, chief executive officer of the company’s Istanbul-based parent Borusan Holding AS, said in an interview on Thursday. 
Chobani LLC will undertake a major expansion to its manufacturing facility in Twin Falls, Id. The expansion will be used for increased manufacturing capacity to drive continued growth in the region and to meet demand for new and existing products.
