Financiers Desperately Seeking Synergy

The Institute for International Education recently announced that there were 11,600 Turkish students studying at American universities in the 2005-2006 school year. Although this was a decrease from the 12,500 students of the previous year, Turkey still ranks as eighth in the world in the amount of students it sends to study in the US.

Sending Hope to Anatolia

One day a lawyer, a company manager, and a businessman sat down together and contemplated how to tackle the lack of books for students in public schools throughout Turkey. In their spare time they formed the Bridges of Hope Project Foundation in November 2005 and in the past two years have provided 11,000 public boarding school students with 16,000 books.

American Capital in Motion

In January, 2004, companies with US capital in Turkey formed an association to foster better cooperation. Since then, the American Business Forum in Turkey (Amerikan Şirketler Derneği), with the support of the American Commercial Attaché, has reached 57 members. Considering that the number of American companies operating in Turkey is 220, this is a remarkable achievement for its first year.

Turkish Builder Launches Major Macedonia Project

SKOPJE, Macedonia (AP) - Ibrahim Cevahir, Turkish investor and owner of 'Cevahir Holding', speaks during a cornerstone ceremony for construction of four skyscrapers and shopping mall, in Skopje, Macedonia, Monday, July 16, 2012. The construction site that measures about 280.000 square meters (3.000.000 square feet) will consist of four towers with 42 floors each 130 meters (427 feet) tall with business space, shopping mall, and providing residence to 5,000 people. This is the largest construction of residential buildings ever launched in Macedonia worth euro 300 million (367 million US Dollar) and will be completed in three years by Turkish company 'Cevahir Holding'.
