Chobani Property Assessed at More Than $331 Million

Image TWIN FALLS • Yogurt giant Chobani’s main site is assessed at $331,847,441, including land, buildings, machinery and equipment. That number from Twin Falls County Assessor Gerry Bowden is in the ballpark of what the Twin Falls Urban Renewal Agency expected, URA Executive Director Melinda Anderson said last week.Property taxes collected from Chobani — roughly estimated at $5.7 million — will go toward a $34.5 million bond that the URA used to attract and accommodate the company, Anderson said. The bond paid for expansion of the city’s wastewater treatment plant and other infrastructure projects.

TV's Dr. Oz and Hearst Magazines to Test Lifestyle Magazine Next Year

Image Dr. Mehmet Oz, the surgeon and television personality, is getting into the magazine business with Hearst Corp. The two are collaborating on a lifestyle magazine aimed at women that will be piloted with two issues next year, in the first and second quarters, the publisher said Monday. The magazine will cover health, beauty, self-improvement advice and “real-women’s stories,” according to a statement. Hearst said the still-untitled magazine, which also does not yet have an editor in chief, is modeled on the launches of its Food Network and HGTV magazines, which began as pilots and later expanded to 10 times a year.

protests,” Acemoğlu, a Turkish-American economist of Armenian descent, told a small group journalists on June 22, before giving a speech at Istanbul’s Bilgi University.

New York Times Responds to Turkish PM's Criticism Over Gezi Park Ad

Image The New York Times has said it accepts advertisements “from all advocacy groups who wish to share their opinions” in response to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s criticism over a full-page ad placed in the newspaper by Gezi Park supporters.  “We publish this type of advertising because we believe in the First Amendment, which affords us the right to publish news and editorials, but just as important, guarantees the public’s right to be heard,” the New York Times said in a written statement to daily Hürriyet published on June 8.

The Turkish Airlines Open will be played between November 7-10 and will form part of the new Final Series, the climax European Tour's big-money Race to Dubai. Fourteen-time major winner Woods first played in Turkey last year at the eight-man World Golf Finals, a precursor to this year's event being held at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal in Antalya.

Turkey Ranks Last on OECD's Better Life List

Image World Bulletin/News Desk - Although Turkey has made considerable progress in improving the quality of life of its citizens over the last two decades, it has ranked last among 34 nations based on a large number of criteria on the "Better Life Index" of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). According to the OECD index, which is based on data from the United Nations, individual governments and other sources, the average household net-adjusted disposable income in Turkey is lower than the OECD average of $23,047 a year. A total of 48 percent of people aged between 15 and 64 in Turkey have a paid job, less than the OECD employment average of 66 percent.
