The Most Influential Turkish-American Women #14 - When İstanbul Altın Refineries (IAR) (Istanbul Gold Refinery) wanted to improve its USA branch and enter the market, young professional Çiğdem Bostan was given a great responsibility. While most of the gold companies were closing their New York offices and returning to Turkey, Bostan rolled up her sleeves to create the US branch of IAR, which had joined the Halach Family in 2002 after privatization. Having been founded in 2008, the Halach Gold, Inc. reached a capacity of 15 workers and a 200 million dollar turnover. The Miami branch, which began to operate in 2013, has played a great role in the company’s reach-out to both South and North American mines.

Blackstone grew up surrounded by fashion. She began her career in retail working with her parents who own 30+ retail stores and a franchise of the upscale Beymen Department Store in Izmir, Turkey. She had always dreamed of living in America, and this dream came true when she went to the US, after graduating from university, to do master's work. She received her Degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology. 
The Most Influential Turkish-American Women #17 - When contemplating Turkish -American lobbying activities in the U.S., Lydia Borland is one of the first names that comes to mind. After all, she has been walking the halls of Congress since 1989. Even though she isn’t a Turkish citizen – her dad is from North Carolina and her mother is Italian, - she speaks fluent Turkish and has absorbed the Turkish culture as only one who has grown up in the country can. She has worked with Turks for over 30 years. At the beginning of her professional career, she worked in İzmir in 1983. Her first job was as an intern at the IMF Africa Department.

Uysal has eight user experience (UX) patents and her team’s main mission is to create world-class product designs that drive an exceptional user experience. 
The Most Influential Turkish-American Women #19 - Çiğdem Balım Harding is a senior lecturer in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at Indiana University. Balım is also the director of graduate studies and the director of language instruction in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures. She has also been a senior examiner of Turkish Literature A1 for the International Baccalaureate Organization (examining World Literatures in Translation and Turkish Literature) since 1996. She received her B.A. at Hacettepe University in 1974 and her Ph.D. at the University of Washington in 1979. 
The Most Influential Turkish-American Women #20- Pelin Muharremoğlu is Senior Finance Manager at Capital One based in Plano, Texas. She is responsible for managing expenses and improving financial analysis for several large teams. A financial services professional with 11 years of diverse and productive experience in the field, Muharremoğlu’s expertise include financial analysis and modeling, project management, and auto finance. Born in Samsun, Muharremoğlu earned her undergraduate degree at Boğaziçi University, in electrical and electronics engineering in 1998. She moved to the United States to attend Boston University, where she earned a graduate degree in electrical engineering in 2000. 
Comodo has identified a new PayPal phishing email, which is being sent via a server in Turkey. Because PayPal uses email to contact its customers, fraudsters can easily fake the name in the sender’s email address. The email contains only a clickable image of a textual letter, with no text outside the image. The text in the image begins, “we need your help resolving an issue with your account.” 
Turkish Philanthropy Funds announces the establishment of a Memorial Fund for Ziya G. Boyacıgiller to support women’s education and entrepreneurship in Turkey. Ziya G. Boyacıgiller was a director of the board and a founding partner of our organization. He passed away after a battle with cancer at the age of sixty-one on June 19, 2014.

Currently, Turkey is confronting the challenges of one of the worst man-made humanitarian crises facing the world. Turkey has taken in over 1.7 million refugees fleeing violence in Syria and the surrounding region. Of these refugees, over 200,000 live in one of 25 temporary protection camps, while 1.5 million live in Turkish towns and cities. 
New York, NY (June 16, 2015) – The first-ever Abadan Awards were presented today at a ceremony held at Rumeli Feneri campus of Koç University in İstanbul. Zeynep Oya Yeğen of Boston University and Feyzan Özbay of İstanbul Medeniyet University shared the inaugural Dr. Yavuz Abadan Constitutional Law Award. Zeynep Oya Yeğen received the award for her study on 'The Politics of Constitutional Reform Process: A comparison of Chile and Turkey.' Yeğen is a PhD candidate in Comparative Politics at Boston University. The award is shared by Feyzan Özbay for her study entitled 'A Comparative Assessment on the Protection of Individual Rights and Privacy in face of Counter-Terrorism Related State Surveillance.' Özbay is a doctoral student at İstanbul Medeniyet University. Yeğen and Özbay were recognized by the jury for the timeliness and originality of their research. The winners each received $10,000 towards the advancement of their research efforts.
