Over the years, I’ve given a lot of thought to the topic of leadership and doing what I can to build a culture of leadership that gives The Coca-Cola Company a sustainable, long-term advantage. To me, leadership is all about creating value in whatever you do—and whatever role you are in—and leaving something better than you found it. The best leaders keep learning, too. They learn from their mistakes and their successes—not only when they’re young, but throughout their careers.

Gul Turkmenoglu has joined New York-based Denihan Hospitality as general manager of The Benjamin (www.thebenjamin.com) in midtown Manhattan. She will oversee operations, finance and sales and marketing for the 209-room luxury midtown Manhattan hotel, reporting directly to Edward Maynard, Denihan’s EVP, Operations. 
The American who was injured in the shooting rampage at an Istanbul nightclub told Turkish reporters today that he was part of a group of about nine people at the a New Year's Eve celebration at the club and that seven of them had been shot. Jacob Raak, who spoke to reporters while on a gurney at an airport in Istanbul, also seemed to allude to the fact that Americans don't live with a daily concern about terror attacks in the same way as people in Turkey.

The New Year Ball is covered in more than 2,600 Waterford crystals. This year’s ball has a new crystal design called the “Gift of Kindness” with 288 crystals cut into rosettes to symbolize unity. 
Turkey plans to increase its revenue from the export of Turkish series and soap operas worldwide to $2 billion by 2023, Metin Tunçtürk, the chairman of the professional body of film producers, FIYAB, has said. “The Turkish drama sector is open to the world and is set to become a locomotive for an economic, cultural and global national breakthrough,” Tuncturk said. 
An exclusive emoji keyboard has been developed for Turkish users applicable for instant messaging platforms where 6 billion emojis are shared every day worldwide. The app features more than 450 icons including cultural ones like "simit," "eggs with sucuk," "quarter gold chain," "tea," "Turkish coffee" and "father figure." The most used icon, however, is "evil eye talisman" ("nazar boncuğu" in Turkish), a popular gift choice among travelers visiting Turkey.The app's creator, entrepreneur Deniz Hotamışlıgil, 31, who resides in Los Angeles, said that the app is Turkey's first local emoji keyboard. He said that he had the idea after seeing the need for emojis required to express precisely the necessary emotions when messaging in Turkish.

HAVANA – Turkish Airlines, Turkey’s flag carrier, started offering direct flights Tuesday connecting Istanbul, Caracas and Havana in an effort to “link and expand contacts” between the Eurasian country and the Caribbean, company executives said. Mehmet Büyükeksi, a member of the Turkish Airlines board and president of the Turkish Exporters Association (TIM), said during a ceremony in Havana that the new route, which expands the airline’s destinations around the world to 295, will offer economic and cultural benefits. “We see Havana and Caracas as very important points among our destinations and within our expansion plans for Latin America and the Caribbean,” Büyükeksi said.
