Chobani Named One of the Most innovative Companies in the World

Image Yogurt maker Chobani Inc. has been named one of the most innovative companies in the world. Business magazine Fast Company ranked the upstate New York food manufacturer the ninth most innovative company for 2017, ahead of Spotify, Buzzfeed and Airbnb, as well as Microsoft and IBM. Among other things, Fast Company cited Chobani's 2016 ad campaigns that targeted competitors General Mills and Dannon and the introduction of its Mezé Dips product line as reasons for its high ranking.

Chobani was also ranked No. 1 on Fast Company's most innovative lists in the food and social good categories. It was recognized in the latter category for CEO and founder Hamdi Ulukaya's efforts to employ refugees in the company's Chenango County and Twin Falls, Idaho, factories. Ulukaya, who immigrated to the U.S. from Turkey and founded Chobani in 2005, has been targeted with threats and racist attacks for supporting immigrants.

The company was the 40th most innovative company on Fast Company's 2012 list. (Andrew H. Roiter, Albany Business Review)
