After two months of delays, SpaceX achieved success today in its launch of six Orbcomm telecommunications satellites into orbit on Monday, July 14. All six satellites have been successfully deployed in orbit. The six satellites, which were built by the Sierra Nevada Corporation, are part of Orbcomm’s next generation of satellites, which aim to provide faster and more robust data systems to its customers, as well as increasing the company’s overall network capacity. The six satellites are the first part of what’s envisioned to be a 17-satellite constellation, which the company aims to have in orbit by the end of the year.
