New York Airport Traffic Nears All-Time High

Image NEWARK, N.J. -- Passenger traffic at the New York area's four commercial airports increased in 2012 despite closures caused by Superstorm Sandy. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says traffic at Newark Liberty, La Guardia, John F. Kennedy and Stewart airports rose by 3.3 percent last year compared to 2011. More than 109 million travelers used the four airports. That's just below the pre-recession record of 110 million set in 2007.

Apple Hack Signals No Company Safe From Latest Malware Attack

Image Apple said Tuesday its employees' computers had been hacked, signaling that even a company once thought to be hacker-proof is vulnerable to a sophisticated attack that has claimed a growing number of victims. Apple said in a statement that malicious software had infected "a limited number" of employees' computers, but no customer data had been compromised.

LATFF 2013: Feature Films Announced

Image Scheduled to run 28 February – 3 March 2012 in Los Angeles, Second Los Angeles Turkish Film Festival will screen four prominent feature films. The Festival will open with the screening of Yilmaz Erdogan’s “The Dream of A Butterfly/The Butterfly’s Dream”. The following feature presentations are Emin Alper’s award-winning film “Tepenin Ardi” (Beyond The Hills) and Ali Aydin’s “Kuf” (Mold), which will get its U.S premiere. The Festival will wrap with Zeki Demirkubuz’s “Yeralti” (Inside), which will meet the audience for the first time through its U.S premiere.

Turkey's First Locally Built Research Ship at Sea

Image Turkey’s first national research ship, TÜBİTAK Marmara, which is purposed to observe undersea operations of every kind as well as to conduct oil exploration activities, was put to sea Feb. 17. “Turkey has proved that it is also capable of building research ships, along with freight ships. Hopefully, it will be able to export these ships also,” Science, Industry and Technology Minister Nihat Ergün said during the landing event of the ship in Istanbul. “The studies to be done with this ship will boost our country’s opportunities to benefit from the seas and will create a substantial surplus for our country.”
