Sierra Nevada's Minishuttle Is Go for Space Station Supply Deliveries in 2020

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - The International Space Station will have a new spacecraft visitor starting in 2020 now that Sierra Nevada has received NASA approval to send its Dream Chaser cargo carrier to the orbiting laboratory. The Nevada-based commercial space company said Wednesday that it has the go-ahead from NASA to finalize the spacecraft, which looks like a mini space shuttle, for cargo resupply missions beginning in late 2020. “SNC has been successfully completing critical design milestones as approved by NASA, and having a timetable for the first launch is another important step achieved for us,” Sierra Nevada Corp. CEO Fatih Ozmen said. “The team has worked so hard to get to this point and we can’t wait to fulfill this mission for NASA.”

Turkish Airlines Cements Global Brand Power with Dr. Oz

Surgeon and television host Dr. Oz becomes part of Turkish Airlines ‘Five Senses’ campaign, highlighting “miracles inside our bodies” Turkish Airlines has cemented its global brand power by collaborating with the Turkish-American cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz, who is widely known by his television program The Dr. Oz Show that ha won several Daytime Emmy Awards.  As part of the Turkish Airlines’ recent campaign “Five Senses”, Dr. Oz starred in Turkey’s flagship carrier’s latest commercial that was broadcast last Sunday during the American football league’s final game this year — Super Bowl LII.

Yildiz Asks Banks for Biggest Ever Turkish Loan

Yildiz Holding, owner of companies including Godiva Chocolates and United Biscuits, requested the largest loan ever from Turkish banks, citing difficulties with an existing finance structure that requires it to make monthly loan repayments that can reach more than $1 billion. In a letter to 10 banks dated Jan. 29, Yildiz asked them to create a consortium, syndication or joint finance group to consolidate their loans to Yildiz. The letter, which was viewed by Bloomberg and verified by two people with direct knowledge of its contents, was signed by Yildiz Holding Chief Financial Officer Mustafa Tercan and Ali Ulker, deputy chairman of the board.

Descendants Gather in Istanbul to Remember Sultan Abdulhamid

Some 52 descendants of Sultan Abdülhamid II, credited with a brief revival of a dying Ottoman Empire, gathered at an event in Istanbul to mark the centenary of his death. Grandchildren of the sultan traveled from France, the U.K., Germany, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Austria and Mexico for the event organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality at the Ottoman Archives Directorate building. After a recitation of the Quran and the screening of a documentary on Istanbul during Abdülhamid's reign, historians, academics and members of the Ottoman dynasty delivered speeches.
