Health tech startup iBeat launched the pre-ordering phase of its heart-monitoring watch on Indiegogo, giving the company time to build out a commercial market and establish the device, iBeat Life Monitor, as a tool for preventing sudden death from cardiac arrest or stroke. Backed by Dr. Mehmet Oz, host of the “Dr. Oz Show,” and founded by former Practice Fusion CEO Ryan Howard, the iBeat Life Monitor aims to build upon previous technologies like Life Alert to provide a 24/7 dispatch team in the event of a major cardiac event. The watch continuously monitors heart rate and oxygen uptake, and if the wearer’s metrics go outside a healthy parameter, it contacts the wearer, asking if they are ok. If they have the capacity to respond “no” by pushing a button, or if the wearer cannot respond at all, the dispatch team then notifies emergency responders as well as family and friends.
Real-estate investment and development firm Caerus Group has signed a lease with a Turkish trade group for half of its Midtown Manhattan building. TTC USA Consulting Corp. will take 27,750 square feet on five floors at 10 E. 34th St., a 10-story building near the Empire State Building, said Andy Udis, a partner at ABS Partners Real Estate LLC who represented Caerus with Ronald Zimmerman, an executive managing director at ABS. With this deal, the office portion of the early 20th-century building is completely leased. Asking rents started at $65 a square foot.

In front of a very large audience, Turkish senior policy-makers, along with Turkish and U.S. senior experts, discussed various aspects of the failed coup and the key role played in it by supporters of Fethullah Gulen, a Muslim cleric living in the U.S. now accused by Turkish authorities of being the master mind of the military action aimed at toppling the elected government.
