Israel-based ASRR Capital, controlled by Alex Sapir and Rotem Rosen, and Istanbul-based Suzer Group have announced a partnership with prominent Turkish businesswoman Ozlem Onal to create a high-end luxury hotel at the oceanfront building they purchased in Surfside last week, The Real Deal has learned.

Boyacıgiller was a director of the board and a founding partner of our organization. He passed away after a battle with cancer at the age of sixty-one on June 19, 2014.

The Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) says they deeply saddened by the passing of Suleyman Demirel, the 9th President of the Republic of Turkey,  on Wednesday,  June 17, 2015 at the age of 91. Suleyman Demirel who was one of the most influential and pragmatic figures in Turkish political history since 1964. He served as president from 1993 to 2000 and was prime minister seven times from the 1960s to the 1990s.

 

TCA President Visits Refugee Camps in Southeastern Turkey

Currently, Turkey is confronting the challenges of one of the worst man-made humanitarian crises facing the world. Turkey has taken in over 1.7 million refugees fleeing violence in Syria and the surrounding region. Of these refugees, over 200,000 live in one of 25 temporary protection camps, while 1.5 million live in Turkish towns and cities.

The Inaugural Abadan Awards Were Granted in Istanbul

Image New York, NY (June 16, 2015) – The first-ever Abadan Awards were presented today at a ceremony held at Rumeli Feneri campus of Koç University in İstanbul. Zeynep Oya Yeğen of Boston University and Feyzan Özbay of İstanbul Medeniyet University shared the inaugural Dr. Yavuz Abadan Constitutional Law Award. Zeynep Oya Yeğen received the award for her study on 'The Politics of Constitutional Reform Process: A comparison of Chile and Turkey.' Yeğen is a PhD candidate in Comparative Politics at Boston University. The award is shared by Feyzan Özbay for her study entitled 'A Comparative Assessment on the Protection of Individual Rights and Privacy in face of Counter-Terrorism Related State Surveillance.' Özbay is a doctoral student at İstanbul Medeniyet University. Yeğen and Özbay were recognized by the jury for the timeliness and originality of their research. The winners each received $10,000 towards the advancement of their research efforts.

Image Turkey's 9th president, Süleyman Demirel, dies at 91 on June 17th at 2.05pm. The 91-year-old Turkish statesman had taken to a hospital last May 13th in Güven Hospital, Ankara. He will be buried in Isparta, next to his wife who died in May 2013. Demirel had an extensive presence throughout Turkish politics in the second half of the last century, having served as Prime Minister five times (1965-1971, 1975-1977, 1979-1980, 1991-1993) and president (1993-2000).1

The announcement at the Paris Air Show follows SNC's May 27, 2015 signing of a Memorandum of Understanding involving the Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik ve Ticaret A.S. (STM) in support of the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs & Communications to produce the country's first regional jet as part of its Regional Aircraft Project.

Turkish Airlines Confirms New Flights to Atlanta

Image Turkish Airlines as early as next May could be whisking Atlantans to Istanbul and beyond on a daily nonstop flight that has long been anticipated but was previously considered years away. In its news section, the airline’s website today posted a new schedule for the flight, which says it would start May 16, 2016, and run through Oct. 28. Turkish Airlines couldn't be reached immediately for comment.

Sierra Nevada Corporation to Collaborate on Regional Aircraft Production in Turkey

Image 328 Support Services GmbH, the Type Certificate holder for the D328, is pleased to announce that its parent company, Sierra Nevada Corporation, has signed a  Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs & Communications to meet the need of producing the country’s first regional jet as part of its Regional Aircraft Project (“Project”).  The first aircraft is expected to be delivered in 2018.
