Maxim Integrated Reports Results For The Second Quarter Of Fiscal 2014

Image SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. MXIM -1.64% reported net revenue of $620 million for its second quarter of fiscal 2014 ended December 28, 2013, a 6% increase from the $585 million revenue recorded in the prior quarter. Reported revenue included $35 million from Volterra. Excluding Volterra, revenue was flat compared to the prior quarter.

Chobani Sends Yogurt to Winter Olympics

Image TWIN FALLS, Idaho • Chobani employees chanted “USA! USA! USA!” Tuesday as they waited for several members of the U.S. Olympic Ski and Snowboard Team to appear. Halfpipe ski competitors Aaron Blunck, 17, from Crested Butte, Colo., and Brita Sigourney, 24, of Carmel, Calif., were at Twin Falls’ Chobani yogurt plant to launch the company’s sponsorship of the ski team. The two athletes are heading to Sochi, Russia, to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics, and a shipment of Chobani Greek yogurt will go with them.

Yogurt Joins Super Bowl Snack Parade

Image Who would have thought X Super Bowls ago, or even V, that there could be as many commercials for yogurt during a game as for candy? That seems likely to happen on Feb. 2, when Fox broadcasts Super Bowl XLVIII: Two brands of Greek-style yogurt, Chobani and Dannon Oikos, have bought commercial time in the game, as have two candy brands, M&M’s and Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups. Of course, other snacks will be Super Bowl advertisers, like Doritos, as well as drinks like Coca-Cola, along with the SodaStream home soda maker. And Pepsi sponsors the halftime show.

Sierra Nevada Corporation Announces Milestone in Dream Chaser Program

Sierra Nevada Forges European Partnerships for Development of Dream Chaser

Image Louisville-based Sierra Nevada Corp.'s Space Systems is reaching across the Atlantic to forge partnerships with the European Space Agency and the German Aerospace Center that could open new markets and lead to new uses for its Dream Chaser space vehicle, the company announced in a news conference Wednesday. The idea behind the agreements is to apply European aerospace technologies to the Dream Chaser so that it can one day be used for missions beyond simply ferrying crew and cargo to the International Space Station.

Partners Discuss UNDP's US$166 Million Resilience-based Development Response

Image Amman, 8 January 2014  – Development partners from 18 countries and the EU, meeting in Amman today, agreed that the Kuwait II Pledging Conference for Syria, slated for 15 January 2014, should encompass support for critical development efforts to compliment the humanitarian response to the crisis in Syria and its spill-over impacts on neighbouring countries. The meeting, which brought together partners with long-standing experience and knowledge of the region and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Country Directors from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Turkey, endorsed UNDP’s Resilience-based Development Response in support of people and communities affected by the Syrian crisis in those five countries.
 

Bridges of Hope Project, Inc. Develops 12 School Libraries in Turkey in 2013

Image The Bridges of Hope Project (BOHP) supported educational development by building 12 elementary school libraries, each containing 300 - 350 books, in selected towns and villages throughout Turkey in 2013. In addition, every student was given a popular science book published by TUBITAK, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, to inspire young minds in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
