“This is my personal journey of surviving a life threatening illness. Millions of children around the world suffer from leukemia. I am not alone in this fight.” Lara Berkmen, is a 13 year old girl who lives in Fairfield, CT and was diagnosed with an aggressive form of AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia), in September, 2012. After 4 rounds of chemotherapy, doctors decided that she needs a bone marrow transplant in order to get rid of the leukemic cells in her body. She loves reading, writing, swimming, playing instruments, and is being recognized for her efforts and natural talents.

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- A physician known for delivering a daily dose of medical and nutritional advice on TV has apparently done a lot to keep area businesses healthy too. Dr. Mehmet Oz, of "The Dr. Oz Show," is seen weekday afternoons on WYFF. "As soon as Dr. Oz airs at 4 o'clock we get phone calls," Vanessa Rampey, an employee of Garner's Natural Life in Greenville, told WYFF. "They're asking, 'Do you have it? Do you have it?'"

Longtime friends of Mica Ertegun — widow of Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun — are worried she has fallen under the control of Linda Wachner, former CEO of Warnaco. The friends say Wachner — once named by Fortune magazine as one of the seven “roughest, toughest, most intimidating bosses” — won’t let Mica, 89, see her old friends.

"We're very excited about food, actually, which is the opposite of what people think," Lisa Oz says in the enormous Cliffside Park home she shares with her husband, the health advice-dispensing host of "The Dr. Oz Show." She laughs about the misperceptions of those she meets who say, "You must just have nuts and kale and the occasional yogurt with blueberries."

The MFA Film Program and the Turkish American Cultural Society of New England are proud to present the 14th Annual Boston Turkish Film Festival, March 19 to April 5, 2015. This year’s 23 film-program continues the tradition of highlighting works by emerging and established Turkish filmmakers. The festival opens on March 19 with Nuri Bilge Ceylans’s film, Winter Sleep, winner of Palme d’Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
