New York Attorney Preet Bharara Fired After Refusing to Resign
High-profile New York prosecutor Preet Bharara -- who was among the federal attorneys asked to resign by the White House -- said Saturday that has been fired. U.S. President Donald Trump's administration on Friday demanded the resignations of 46 U.S. prosecutors -- including Bharara -- appointed during the two terms of his predecessor Barack Obama. The federal attorney's firing capped a standoff with the Trump administration that started when Bharara refused the White House order to resign.

Dutch police detained Turkish Family and Social Affairs Minister Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya on late Saturday to deport her to Germany after declaring her "undesirable alien." TV video showed the standoff between the ministerial convoy and the Rotterdam police, which was translated between an officer and the minister. After being told to return with her convoy, Kaya retorted sharply, saying "I will go to the consulate building. That is a building belonging to my country and I am a minister of that country."

The life of Bilun Alpan, the last surviving member of the Ottoman dynasty who was exiled in 1924, has become the subject of TRT's new documentary "Bilun: Sürgünün Son Tanığı" (Bilun: The Last Witness of Exile). Ozmen Ventures has announced its launch as one of the first early-stage investment funds in northern Nevada. Founded by Eren and Fatih Ozmen, owners of Sparks-based Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), a global aerospace and defense company, the fund aims to invest in young and dynamic local startups and cultivate the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. Royal Caribbean has canceled all scheduled stops in Turkey for the 2017 season, becoming the latest cruise line to do so following Carnival Corporation’s Cunard Line and P&O Cruises December decisions to stop sailing to the Mediteranean nation. Disney Cruise Line, Crystal Cruises and MSC Cruises are among other cruise lines that cancelled all ports of call to Turkey in 2016. Royal Caribbean says it made the decision due to the current unpredictability of events happening in the country, and that they are keeping the safety and wellbeing of both guests and crew members in mind after numerous terrorist attacks in the country in last year. 
Turkey has exceeded $100,000 million in return from Turkish TV drama exports in recent years, and is now getting ready to collaborate with Latin American countries to enhance the industry, daily Hürriyet has reported. The Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) has been in efforts to mobilize and increase the contribution of Turkish dramas to tourism and trade. “Projects with Latin American countries will contribute both to Turkey’s promotion and create a warm environment to increase trade,” said Aykut Eken, the chairman of DEİK Turkish-American Business Council.

Investors in San Francisco-based Dedrone included Cisco Executive Chairman John Chambers, and Felicis Ventures, which led the round. The founder and Managing Director of Felicis Ventures, Aydin Senkut, said the deal represents the largest check his firm has cut in a single round to-date.

Business magazine Fast Company ranked the upstate New York food manufacturer the ninth most innovative company for 2017, ahead of Spotify, Buzzfeed and Airbnb, as well as Microsoft and IBM.
