NEW YORK (January 22, 2015) – The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism today announced a new director of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office in New York will outline the country’s tourism vision at this week’s New York TimesTravel Show. Murat Karakus was appointed Director of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office, New York, after more than 20 years with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, including previous roles at the Turkish Tourism Offices in the Netherlands and Washington, D.C.

The Nashville-based 25-year-old venture capital firm Heritage Group has made a strategic investment in Sharecare, an online platform that combines clinically-proven assessments, tools, and content to provide customized health management to consumers. Sharecare was founded by Jeff Arnold and Dr. Mehmet Oz. This round of funding brings Sharecare's total funding to $91 million.
Warren Buffett, who controls the largest stake in Coca-Cola Co., knows how to steal a show. The billionaire investor showed up at the soda maker’s annual meeting Wednesday to help sell the company’s message to shareholders in an on-stage interview with Chief Executive Officer Muhtar Kent. The surprise appearance drew a standing ovation as Buffett advised Kent to stay ahead of competitors by reviewing what made other businesses falter. “I like to study failure,” Buffett, 82, said at the meeting held in the Cobb Galleria Center in Atlanta. ws 
Guler Köknar is a graduate of the German High School in Istanbul (1985) and the Istanbul University School of Law (1989). She entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey as a career diplomat in 1989 and worked in various capacities until 1994, including as Vice Consul at the Turkish Consulate General in Houston. Leaving the Foreign Service, from 1994 to 2002, Köknar worked as Executive Director of the Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) in Washington, DC. In 2004, Köknar became Executive Director of the Turkish Cultural Foundation (TCF). She also works as Vice President of the Turkish Coalition of America, an organization she helped to establish in 2007. Köknar is married and has a daughter. 
Turkish businessman and former doctor Şükrü Bozluçay has been named as the entrepreneur of the year for his contributions to nuclear medicine. Bozlu Holding Chairman Şükrü Bozluolçay, a lifelong contributor to nuclear medicine and cancer treatment in Turkey, was presented with the entrepreneur of the year award yesterday at a ceremony in Istanbul.

Publishers looking for promising ideas are said to have approached talk show host Dr. Mehmet Oz about doing an eponymous magazine. According to the industry grapevine, Rodale, Hearst and Time Inc. are the most likely candidates. A spokesman for Oz would not comment on the rumors or potential suitors, but said: “It should be a surprise to no one that Dr. Oz would be a desirable partner in a magazine venture because of the popularity of the show.” Oz has been a prolific writer, churning out 10 books in the “You: The Owner’s Manual” series for Simon & Schuster’s Free Press.
