Bozkir: EU Not In Position to Refuse Turkey's Membership Bid

Image Minister of EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Volkan Bozkır has claimed that the EU is in need of Turkey with increasing urgency, saying, "The EU does not have the luxury of refusing Turkey's membership." At a reception on Thursday organized by Turkish citizens and academics who study in Washington and at the Turkish embassy there, Bozkır spoke about Turkey's EU bid in a speech and informed participants about laws that have been enacted during the membership process.

ATAA Introduces New President Dr. Mehmet Toy

ATAA has announced today that Mr. Mehmet Celebi who has been serving as President of ATAA since April 28, 2013 has vacated this position for personal reasons and that President-Elect Dr. Mehmet Toy has assumed the role of ATAA President effective immediately. New York Region Vice president Ms. Ceren Olga Sayan will assume a new role on the ATAA Executive Committee as First VP, taking on Dr. Toy's previous responsibilities. In its written statement, ATAA congratulates Dr. Toy and Ms. Sayan on their new roles and wishes them good luck in their future endeavors on behalf of ATAA.

U.S. Chamber Welcomes Vice President Biden, Turkey's Prime Minister Erdogan

Biden Jr. and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan today for a meeting of American and Turkish government and business leaders to discuss ways to improve the commercial relationship between the United States and Turkey. The event also marked the launch of the Chamber’s U.S.-Turkey Business Council.

US, Turkish Officials Vow to Improve Ties

Image The third annual Turkic American Convention concluded yesterday with an Annual Gala as both sides praise the improving ties between the two countries.The Convention, which began on March 12 in Washington, D.C. in association with the Turkic-American Alliance (TAA) and the Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists of Turkey (TUSCON), was attended by over 1,000 Turkish, Turkic and American politicians, academics and businessmen.

Turkish-US Business Group to Meet in June

Image The American-Turkish Council (ATC), the largest Turkish-American business group, will hold its 31st annual meeting this year in Washington between June 10 and 13, the group has announced on its website. With more than 700 participants, the conference provides an opportunity to expand business relationships, showcase products, interact with senior government officials and military officers, exchange information and hear outstanding speakers from the United States and Turkey.  This year’s meetings will be held in the U.S. capital’s Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

TCA, ATAA and Members of Congress Mark 60th Anniversary of Turkey's NATO Membership

Image The Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) and the Assembly of Turkish American Associations hosted twelve Members of Congress, Turkey's Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Namik Tan, and dozens of congressional staffers at a breakfast reception to mark the 60th anniversary of Turkey's NATO membership. In his remarks at the event, Ambassador Tan highlighted Turkey's crucial role in NATO's success and underscored that a strong U.S.-Turkey relationship based on shared values of "democracy, human rights, and the rule of law" has helped NATO maintain stability despite continual global challenges.
