PCA Officially Announces 2025 Trade Show Dates

The Premium Cigar Association (PCA) has announced the dates for next year’s trade show, which will be held on April 11-14, 2025. For the first time since 2015, the PCA trade show (PCA25) will be held in New Orleans at the award-winning Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. In preparation for the trade show, the PCA has updated pcashow.org with information for exhibitors, sponsorships, and host hotels. This website will be regularly updated with the latest news about the trade show, including the 2025 educational seminar lineup, registration, travel, and new product launches. 300 migrants to be housed at shuttered Catholic church on Northwest Side in Chicago

By  Cindy Hernandez - Chicago Sun Times - A shuttered church in Portage Park will serve as a new migrant family shelter, the city announced Friday. The Archdiocese of Chicago will lease St. Bartholomew Catholic Church at no cost — months after church officials offered to house new arrivals rent-free at the church. In turn, the city will sub-lease the building to the Zakat Foundation, which provides emergency relief and aid, to care for 300 new arrivals starting later this month, Johnson's office said. An agreement was made and the shelter was to open in January, but the deal never went through.

United in Donations: BTF's Earthquake Relief Fund Exceeds $10 Million

Over 50 thousand people, with the majority from the United States, have contributed to Bridge to Turkey Funds's 2023 earthquake relief efforts, showcasing global support and unity. The earthquake relief fund raised over $10,000,000, with 40% of the funds utilized so far, supporting immediate needs and ongoing rebuilding programs. BTF differs from other nonprofits as it sends 100% of the donations directly to those in need without any fees, relying on volunteers to work on projects until completion. Neslihan Önder Spada, BTF New York / New Jersey Circle Leader and Philanthropist at Bridge to Türkiye Fund told their effort.

Uniting Hearts and Resources: TPF's $19M Contributions to Turkey's Earthquake Victims

 

Turkish Philanthropy Funds (TPF) is a non-profit organization based in the United States that has raised the highest amount of donations for earthquake relief in Turkey, particularly in the earthquake that occurred on February 6, 2023. TPF's Director, Şenay Ataselim, sat down for an interview to discuss the organization's relief efforts and how the funds are utilized. The TPF Türkiye Earthquake Relief Fund primarily focuses on providing project-based grants to non-profit organizations based in Turkey. These organizations are selected through an open call for proposals, but only those that are non-political and non-religious are eligible to apply. TPF ensures that all their non-profit partners undergo a rigorous due diligence process to ensure their effectiveness and equivalence.

Turkish Philanthropy Funds community celebrated its 15th Anniversary on May 9th, 2022 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and honored Hamdi Ulukaya, Founder of Chobani with The Philanthropist of the Year Award for his lifetime dedication to philanthropy to achieve a world of justice and equality. Eric Adams, Mayor of New York City also participated the gala.

ASA Delegation Tours Azerbaijan to Demonstrate Solidarity

Members of an Azerbaijan Society of America (ASA) delegation visited Azerbaijan on September 6-13, 2022. The delegation trip started with the visit to the Tomb of the late President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and laying a wreath on behalf of Azerbaijan Society of America, as the symbol of remembrance and to show our formal respect. Continued with visiting the Alley of Martyrs and the Turkish Martyrs’ Cemetery & Memorial. Aesthetically designed and laid out memorial that leads to the monument with the flame burning in memory of martyrs who lost their lives defending Azerbaijan.

First Syriac Immigrants in the United States

George Anton Kiraz has published extensively in the fields of computational linguistics, Syriac studies, and the digital humanities. He wrote several books, journals, research papers and articles about Syriacs. He is the founder and director of Beth Mardutho: The Syriac Institute, the Editor-in-Chief of Gorgias Press, and a Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton. He earned an M.St. degree in Syriac Studies from the University of Oxford (1991) and an M.Phil. and a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge (1992, 1996). His latest books include The Syriac Orthodox in North America (1895–1995): A Short History (2019) and Syriac-English New Testament (2020).
