Canada Eases Turkey's Refugee Problem

Image OTTAWA - Canada will take 5,000 refugees off of Turkey's hands over the next five years and resettle them in this country. Immigration Minister Jason Kenney made the announcement Tuesday while in the Turkish capital Ankara. "With escalating violence in the region, more people are seeking protection in Turkey, and our commitment to resettle 5,000 mostly Iraqi and Iranian refugees in Canada will help Turkey deal with this growing pressure," Kenney said in a statement.

Image TORONTO- Turkish tradesmen explore new destinations and Turkish exportation focuses on North America, says executive director of TCCC. Enes Kula, the Executive Director of Turkish Canadian Chamber of Commerce (TCCC), has stated that the trade figures between Turkey and Canada have changed in favour of Turkey after a long time. Also being the Toronto investments region representative of Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), Kula assessed the trade relations between Turkey and Canada and informed AA. Kula stressed that Turkish tradesmen started to succeed more in trading lately and said, “Traders in Anatolian part of Turkey produce, sell and export now.”

Muhtar Kent Has a New Role for Turkish Diaspora

Image ANKARA AA - CEO of the Coca-Cola, Kent said, it was important to hold a strong diaspora strategy to spread Turkish lobby abroad. Chairman and CEO of the Coca-Cola Company, Muhtar Kent said that it was important to hold a strong diaspora strategy to spread Turkish lobby abroad. Turkish-American business executive Kent spoke to AA after being elected as a honorary member of Turks Abroad Advisory Board.  

Kent described his new role and said, “I thank our Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan for handing me over this role. As always, civil society and the state have to work in cooperation in the scope of bringing Turkey to higher positions that it deserves and to answer the questions of Turkish citizens who live abroad.” Kent added that Turkey is a growing brand and said, “We have to spread Turkish lobby abroad. We have to pay high attention to make Turkish diaspora to become one of the most affective diaspora in the world with continuous diaspora strategies. We need to give a helping hand to Turkish entrepreneurs who are all over the world.” Turks Abroad Advisory Board will be holding its facilities under a government department which was established a few years ago to focus on Turks living abroad. The Board will become active and hold services in 2013 in the scope of assessing the problems of Turks living abroad and its coordination. Reporting by Ali Ozturk / AA

Turkish-US Partnership in Locomotives Production

Image ESKISEHIR - CEO of GE Transportation praised the product made in Turkey: “The most modern” Lorenzo Simonelli, the President and CEO of General Electric (GE) Transportation said annually there are 3500 to 4000 locomotive sales in the world. Simonelli replied the questions of reporters in Eskisehir where he came for the publicity and customer-supplier meeting of “PowerHaul locomotive” which was produced by the strategic cooperation agreement between General Electric and Turkey Locomotive and Motor Industry A.S. (TULOMSAS).
