The failure of Fort Lee Federal Savings Bank, New Jersey's first bank failure of 2012, will cost the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. about $14 million. Of the five banks to fail statewide since the start of the financial crisis in 2008, that sum is the smallest yet. 2011's failure of First State Bank in Cranford at $45.8 million was the most expensive for the FDIC, among the New Jersey insolvencies. OTTAWA - Canada will take 5,000 refugees off of Turkey's hands over the next five years and resettle them in this country. Immigration Minister Jason Kenney made the announcement Tuesday while in the Turkish capital Ankara. "With escalating violence in the region, more people are seeking protection in Turkey, and our commitment to resettle 5,000 mostly Iraqi and Iranian refugees in Canada will help Turkey deal with this growing pressure," Kenney said in a statement.

Turkish-American business executive Kent spoke to AA after being elected as a honorary member of Turks Abroad Advisory Board. Kent described his new role and said, “I thank our Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan for handing me over this role. As always, civil society and the state have to work in cooperation in the scope of bringing Turkey to higher positions that it deserves and to answer the questions of Turkish citizens who live abroad.” Kent added that Turkey is a growing brand and said, “We have to spread Turkish lobby abroad. We have to pay high attention to make Turkish diaspora to become one of the most affective diaspora in the world with continuous diaspora strategies.
