The best-performing funds of 2012 were all Turkey-centric, with the HSBC Global Investment Funds Turkey Equity fund shooting up by over 65% since the start of 2012. Other Turkey-focused funds include the UBAM Turkish Equity fund and the Charlemagne Magna Turkey fund. Both of these funds have returned more than 50% to investors since January 2012.
TIME has tapped US President Barack Obama for its Person of the Year for the second time, citing his historic re-election last month as symbolic of the nation's shifting demographics and the rise of younger, more diverse Americans. In announcing its annual selection on Wednesday, the magazine called Obama the "Architect of the New America." "He's basically the beneficiary and the author of a kind new America - a new demographic, a new cultural America that he is now the symbol of," TIME editor Rick Stengel said of Obama, who was also selected for the honor in 2008 when he became the nation's first black president. 
The son of a Turkish lobbyist in Washington was elected as the next leader of Potomac Lodge No. 5, a Masonic lodge in Georgetown, several Turkish newspapers reported on Wednesday. Çetin Durak, who is 28 years old, took over the post earlier this week. A report published in the Hürriyet daily said Durak, a University of Virginia graduate, was introduced to the lodge by masons who praised him as a “young, career oriented person with good morals, whose values are in line with Masonic values.”

Chobani Inc. founder and owner Hamdi Ulukaya says a new manufacturing plant should easily push the Greek yogurt brand past $1 billion in annual sales and provide more ammunition for the company against brands like Yoplait and Dannon that are nibbling away at Chobani's leading share. Next week, Chobani plans to open a new 1 million-square-foot plant in Twin Falls, Idaho, that it spent $450 million to get up and running. Paired with its existing plants in Upstate New York, the new plant will allow Chobani to ship more yogurt to more stores, where Mr. Ulukaya said it had been unable to meet demand, as well as come up with new products, like a kids yogurt sold in tubes.
On November 30, the Turkish American Community Center, located at 1306 E. Fifth St., will hold its official grand opening for local and national government officials and Turkish leaders from around the world. “Official greetings will be followed by dinner and entertainment,” said the center’s president, Islom Shakhbandarov. The Ahiska Turkish community in Dayton has grown over the years. In 2006, only six families from the community lived in Dayton. The Ahiska Turkish Community Center was organized in 2009, and, within three years, 400 families from other states resettled here, Shakhbandarov said.
