Turkey's National Photography Achieve Project Launched

Image The turquoise and purple clouds which ascended from the narrow streets of Galata, quickly went up the Galata Tower of the Geneose, where golden lights of the setting sun reflected on. The clouds which began a historical journey with the winds blowing from the Bosporus began to float in the skies of İstanbul after greeting Hezârfen Ahmed Çelebi, a legendary Ottoman aviator, who flew from the very top of the Galata Tower with eagle wings 376 years ago.

Turkish Heritage Festival at Tysons Corner Center Plaza

Image A company that touted green coffee extract as a diet aid was accused of using junk science to back up its claims. Dr. Mehmet Oz, known to television viewers simply as Dr. Oz, once touted a natural extract to viewers as helpful in losing weight. On Monday, the company behind the miracle ingredient agreed to pay $3.5 million to settle accusations by the Federal Trade Commission that it used phony science to back up its claims.

Who's Who in Turkish Culture and Art Reaches 3,000 Listings

The TCF Who's Who features living Turkish artists, artisans and experts in over 50 categories such as Visual, Traditional and Applied Arts, Conservation, Music, Dance, Fashion, Cinema and Theater.

Hedo Turkoglu Nearing Free Agent Deal to Return to Clippers

Image Hedo Turkoglu did next to nothing from a statistical standpoint for the Clippers a season ago, after being added in the middle of the year in an attempt to bolster the bench with a veteran player that could help the team for its run into the postseason. State Fund Seizes GNC Turkey Over Link With Dodgy Businessman

Image The Turkish state fund has seized all store products from the health and nutrition brand GNC, claiming the company has a secret partnership with a corruption-charged Turkish businessman. The Turkish Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) reportedly seized Bakara medical goods, the company that handles GNC’s distribution products in Turkey, after proving there was a financial link between former Bayındır Holding owner Kamuran Çörtük and Bakara.

Clippers Might Bring Hedo Turkoglu Back

Image The Los Angeles Clippers might re-sign forward Hedo Turkoglu if they waive the newly acquired Carlos Delfino and Miroslav Raduljica, according to the Orange County Register's Dan Woike. All signs point to both of them being waived in order to give Los Angeles roster flexibility. To use that flexibility on Turkoglu, though, would be curious. The 14-year veteran did not exactly prove himself to be still capable of contributing last year.

Present Music Opens with Five Times the Ince

Image Present Music will open its 33rd season Aug. 30 with Ince by Ince, a program of five recent works by Turkish American composer Kamran Ince, including three American premieres. These pieces cover great ground stylistically, says Ince, who will conduct the concert, but they are united by a fascination with Ottoman court music, a style of Turkish classical music he describes as “very serious” and spiritual.
