TCF Rediscovers Recipe of Turkey Red
The Turkish Cultural Foundation's Cultural Heritage Preservation and Natural Dyes Laboratory succeeded in the rediscovery of Turkey Red (Türk Kırmızısı), a natural dyeing process lost for over 200 years. A color/dyeing recipe invented by dyers in 16th century Ottoman Empire, Turkey Red, sometimes referred to as Edirne (Adrianople) Red (after the western border town of Edirne in Turkey), was a highly guarded trade secret handed from master dyer to apprentice. The technique was introduced to Europe in 1746 when two master dyers from Izmir were taken to France. From there, the technique spread to England where in 19th Century Glasgow six dyeing factories dyed textiles in Turkey Red.

Longtime friends of Mica Ertegun — widow of Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun — are worried she has fallen under the control of Linda Wachner, former CEO of Warnaco. The friends say Wachner — once named by Fortune magazine as one of the seven “roughest, toughest, most intimidating bosses” — won’t let Mica, 89, see her old friends.

Growing up in a Turkish household, we became more accustomed to rice and bulgur. Growing in my household, we were always finding new ways to cooak healthy and delicious foods. Therefore, using whole grains and cooking healthy were always priority in our kitchen.

"We're very excited about food, actually, which is the opposite of what people think," Lisa Oz says in the enormous Cliffside Park home she shares with her husband, the health advice-dispensing host of "The Dr. Oz Show." She laughs about the misperceptions of those she meets who say, "You must just have nuts and kale and the occasional yogurt with blueberries."

The MFA Film Program and the Turkish American Cultural Society of New England are proud to present the 14th Annual Boston Turkish Film Festival, March 19 to April 5, 2015. This year’s 23 film-program continues the tradition of highlighting works by emerging and established Turkish filmmakers. The festival opens on March 19 with Nuri Bilge Ceylans’s film, Winter Sleep, winner of Palme d’Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. 
The Florida Turkish American Association (FTAA) organizes the 13th Annual Florida Turkish Festival on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. at Arts Park, Young Circle, Hollywood, Florida. The festival is free of charge and open to the general public. The purpose of the festival is to promote Turkey with its rich and diverse culture.

The pair took a rare evening off from parenting duties yesterday to spend some quality time together at the Tom Ford Autumn/Winter 2015 Womenswear Collection Presentation. Proving their relationship is more solid than ever following the birth of their second child Charlton Valentine in October, the couple proudly put on a series of PDAs when they took to the red carpet.

I am a Turkish-American New Yorker, born in the U.S. to a Turkish mother and an American father. I moved to Istanbul from New York in 1996 for what I thought would be a year or so of getting to know the Turkish side of my family. And then I met someone. We fell in love, traveled back and forth between the two countries over the course of our 16-year marriage and until recently, I thought I was living in Istanbul because I was married to a Turkish man. I thought I was waiting for us to be able to move back to New York. Our plan for the future was to make our way back “home.”
