AACAP Announces "

Image Dr. Ülkü Ülgür, co-founder and first president of the Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA), is being honored by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) with a namesake award to recognize his lifelong work and leadership in children's mental health.
The Ülkü Ülgür, M.D. International Scholar Award will recognize a child and adolescent psychiatrist or other physician in the international community who has made significant contributions to children's mental health.  This is the Academy's first international award, and per Dr. Ülgür's wish, every other year candidates will only be sought from Turkey.

Dr. Paramjit T. Joshi, president of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, honored Dr. Ülgür's global work in her annual address to the Academy: "I might say that the credit for his bold initiative belongs to one unique individual who had the passion and foresight to see the importance of promoting our global efforts -- Dr. Ülkü Ülgür -- and I might add, a founding member of the Maryland Regional Council. I am so honored to know Dr. Ülgür, who has certainly captured my admiration for not only wanting to promote child and adolescent psychiatry internationally -- but also for inspiring others to support such a worthy cause."
