Orlando Magics Acquire 7-footer Omer Asik
NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Pelicans announced Tuesday an expected trade with the Houston Rockets for center Omer Asik, which now includes a third team, the Washington Wizards. The trade came after a near month-long agreement with the Rockets to acquire Asik, the 7-foot center who became expendable following the Rockets signing of Dwight Howard.

NEW YORK (July 14, 2014) – The Summer Fancy Food Show, the largest since it was first presented in 1955, is drawing strong reviews from exhibitors and attendees alike. The sold-out exhibit halls, filling 361,000 sq. ft., featured more than 1,400 U.S. exhibitors and 1,291 from around the world. The trade-only event took place June 29–July 1, 2014, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Amid record demand for specialty food, the show drew more than 22,000 attendees from top names in U.S. retailing and restaurants, including Whole Foods, Dean & DeLuca, Kroger and Le Pain Quotidien and buying delegations from Europe and countries as diverse as Uruguay, Paraguay, Albania, and China.
The first group of a total of 48 American middle and high school teachers arrived in Istanbul and began their 14-day journey through Turkey on the Turkish Cultural Foundation's Teacher Study Tours. The teachers were selected from among participants in the Teacher Workshops on Turkey organized under the Spotlight on Turkey 2014 program, by 10 local chapters of the World Affairs Councils of America (WACA) and TCF. The second group will be visiting Turkey on July 14-27. This year’s teachers hail from the states of Colorado, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, and Virginia. Three Turkish teachers and one Turkish American educator will accompany the tours as volunteers with a view to further facilitate exchanges between Turkish and American educators.

PRISTINA, Kosovo (AP) — Kosovo's Infrastructure Ministry says a $820 million deal has been signed with American-Turkish consortium Bechtel-Enka to build a 60 kilometer (37 miles) highway that will link Kosovo with Macedonia. The ministry said Tuesday work on the new highway will start on July 2.

Sierra Nevada Corp. Space Systems bought a company that makes spaceship engine and life-support systems used in the Dream Chaser space plane it’s creating to ferry NASA and private sector astronauts into orbit. The Louisville company reached agreement to make Orbital Technologies Corp., of Madison, Wisconsin, a wholly-owned subsidiary, the companies announced Thursday. Terms were not disclosed. SALT LAKE CITY - Jazz centre Enes Kanter is undergoing platelet-rich plasma treatment to help with tendinitis in his right knee. The injection is designed to stimulate recovery in the 22-year-old's joints. The team says he is receiving the treatment on Tuesday and should be able to return to physical activity in two weeks. Because of the treatment, Kanter will not take part in the FIBA World Cup with the Turkish national team.

Chairman of the American-Turkish Council (ATC), General James Jones, announced today that the ATC Board of Directors returned the June 1 letters of resignation from President and CEO Amb. Jim Holmes and Executive Director Canan Buyukunsal, and has asked them to remain in place. Jones said that Holmes and Buyukunsal agreed in the expectation that their continuation would facilitate a smoother and more durable transition.
A factory that will produce critical engine parts for Lockheed Martin’s F-35 fighter jets has been inaugurated in Aegean Turkish province of İzmir by the partnership of Kale Group and Pratt & Whitney. The project crucial for the jet program also marks a breakthrough for Turkey’s industrial development. Kale Pratt & Whitney, a joint venture of American aerospace manufacturer Pratt & Whitney and Turkish aviation company Kale, has inaugurated its new engine factory in the Aegean province of İzmir, where the most critical engine parts of F-35 fighter jets will be manufactured.
