The Ozmens, Inducted Into the "Living Legends of Aviation"

Sarai Sierra's Family Selling Her Photos to Help Pay For Funeral

Image The family of an American woman murdered while on a photography trip in Turkey is selling her photos to help pay for funeral costs. Sarai Sierra, 33, was found bludgeoned to death near a highway in Istanbul on Saturday. Her iPhone and iPad, the tools she used to share her photos with her thousands of Instagram followers were reportedly missing.

Turkish Businessman Granted 'Steve Jobs' Trademark for Clothing Line

Image A man in Turkey was reportedly granted a trademark for 'Steve Jobs' in the country for a line of clothing, it has emerged. As Digital Spy said citing Patently Apple, a businessman named Kamil Kürekçi lodged an application to trademark the name of the late Apple co-founder in 2011 with the Turkish Trademark Office. The 'STEVE JOBS' trademark was filed in October 2011 - the month that Jobs passed away - and specifically related to a textile brand.

Much Anticipated New Rule: Provisional Unlawful Presence Waiver

Image Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently announced the much anticipated provisional unlawful presence waiver rule, which will reduce the time U.S. citizens are separated from their qualified immediate relatives, who are in the process of getting their green cards. The final rule establishes a process that allows qualified relatives of U.S. citizens to apply for a provisional unlawful presence waiver before they depart the U.S. to attend immigrant visa interviews to obtain their green cards in their countries of origin. This was not possible under the previous rule, where the applicant must file for an unlawful presence waiver at the U.S. Embassy abroad and only after departing the U.S.

Q&A: Coca-Cola Chief Muhtar Kent

Image Muhtar Kent, 60, was born in New York, where his father was Turkish consul general. After finishing high school in Turkey in 1971, he studied economics at the University of Hull and for an MBA at Cass Business School in London. Kent joined The Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta in 1978 and rose through the company via a variety of leadership positions in its US, Europe and Asia ­operations. After a stint with Efes Beverages Group from 1999, he returned to Coca-Cola in 2005, becoming chief executive in 2008 and chairman in 2009. He is active in the global business community and charities and serves on boards including Special Olympics International. He is married with two children and lives in Atlanta.

16% Increase in Tourist Arrivals to Istanbul in 2012

Image Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry Istanbul Directorate announced that number of tourists arriving Istanbul in December 2012. A total of 652.790 tourists arrived Istanbul in December 2012, 19 per cent more compare to December 2011. The number of international tourist arrivals between January and December in 2012 and 2011 were 9.381.670 and 8.057.879 respectively. In 2012, more than 1 million tourists visited Istanbul in contrast to the number of arrivals in 2011. It accounts an increase of 16.4 per cent.

Turkish PAC Texas Raised 55K in 2011-2012 Election Cycle

Image Turkish American Heritage Political Action Committee (TurkishPAC), a Texas-based and U.S.A. Federal Election Committee (FEC) registered nonprofit political organization, raised more than $55,000 through multiple fundraising events. TurkishPAC had close to 60 donors contributing from $10 to $10,000. It had contributors challenging us to raise money in order to provide matching funds. Setting aside the matching contributions, the average donation was about $400. The highest donation amount excluding the matching contributions was $4,000.
