German Business Won't be Affected by Political Disagreements, Turkish Minister Assures

Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek has assured German companies that their investments in Turkey are safe, and their business would not be affected by recent political disagreements between Ankara and Berlin. In an interview with the Der Spiegel weekly published on Saturday, Şimşek underlined that Turkey had left behind a difficult period after the defeated coup attempt last year, and Turkish economy was performing well at the moment.

Limak to Build $570M Project in Russia

Limak has become a partner of the highway project in Ufa, Russia, which has a total construction value of 34 billion rubles ($570 million). Limak, a joint venture of Bashkir Concession Company (BCC), which was established for the highway project, with the Russian company VTB Capital, will also be undertaking the contracting side of the project.

It's Official, Turkey Is Getting Russia's S-400 Air Defense System

By Joseph Trevithick * - Turkey has reportedly signed deal to co-produce the S-400 surface to air missile system with Russia. The plan has already provoked criticism from the country’s fellow NATO members and could further strain its relations with the alliance. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made the announcement during a parliamentary meeting with other members of his Justice and Development Party, more commonly known by its acronym AKP, on July 25, 2017. Turkey and Russia have been negotiating the arrangement since November 2016 and Turkish officials reported these talks were in their “final stage” in April 2017.

Aegean Sea Earthquake Rocks Greece, Turkey Resorts: Two Dead on Kos

Two people were killed and at least 100 injured after a magnitude-6.7 earthquake rocked popular Greek and Turkish tourist destinations on the Aegean Sea early Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey and officials said. The earthquake sent tourists and locals running into the streets on the Greek island of Kos and the Turkish port city of Bodrum shortly after 1.30 a.m. (6.30 p.m. Thursday ET), according to the Associated Press. Both destinations are popular with European vacationers during the summer high-season.

Saudi Alhokair Acquires 10 pct Stake in Turkey's Simit Sarayı

Turkey's most popular and widespread simit chain, Simit Sarayı, which turned simit into a brand in the country and opened to the world with franchises, has partnered with a Saudi firm. Having conducted partnership talks with foreign funds in recent years, Simit Sarayı has signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia-based Fawaz Alhokair Group for the sale of a 10 percent stake in the company. According to a joint statement released by the two companies, Fawaz Alhokair Group Vice Chairman and retail leader Abdul Majeed Alhokair will be appointed as a board member of Simit Sarayı.

Long time resident of Ukraine, Turkish businessman Ali Kılınç decided to run for a seat at the parliament in the upcoming elections. Ali Kılınç has become a Ukrainian citizen and is now an MP candidate on the list of Ridna Vitçizna party, which means "motherland."
