More than 50,000 Small and Medium-sized Businesses Exceeded $500,000 in Sales in Amazon’s Stores in 2018

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--(NASDAQ: AMZN) – Amazon today announced that more than 50,000 small and medium-sized businesses exceeded $500,000 in sales in Amazon’s stores worldwide, and nearly 200,000 surpassed $100,000 in sales in our stores. The number of small and medium-sized businesses eclipsing $1 million in sales in Amazon’s stores worldwide grew by 20 percent in 2018. Millions of small and medium-sized businesses from around the world are selling in Amazon’s stores and more than a million of them are based in the U.S. Small and medium-sized businesses selling in Amazon’s stores come from every state in the U.S., and from more than 130 different countries around the world.

Chobani Announces $100K Grant Recipients in Magic Valley

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) - Some Magic Valley organizations now have the opportunity to kickstart their ideas and make some dreams come true. Back in October, Chobani launched the Community Impact Fund, planning to invest $1 million in the Magic Valley over the next decade. $100,000 will be given annually and on Thursday, the company announced the recipients for the year. Magic Valley Rehabilitation Services received $20,000. Executive Director Charles Kelly, with the nonprofit, said they plan to open up a coffee shop located at County West.

Turkey Cuts Investment Criteria for Foreigners Seeking Citizenship

ANKARA: Turkey on Wednesday made it easier for foreigners to become Turkish citizens by cutting the financial and investment criteria required for citizenship, according to a decree from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Foreigners now need only to have $500,000 deposits in Turkish banks, down from $3 million before while fixed capital investment was reduced from $2 million to $500,000 dollars, the decree published in the Official Gazette said.

Dream Chaser Space Plane Set to Land as Matchbox Sky Busters Toy

A commercial space plane designed to carry astronauts and cargo into Earth orbit will soon touch down in stores as a popular toy. Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) announced on Monday (Sep. 17) that its Dream Chaser spacecraft will be part of Mattel Inc.'s Matchbox Sky Busters toy line to be released this month. "My curiosity for space started young, and I hope this helps spark the same in any kid who has this toy," Steve Lindsey, vice president of SNC's Space Exploration Systems and a former NASA astronaut who commanded three of his five missions on the space shuttle, said in a statement. "There's just something about a winged spacecraft that spurs the imagination." Like the classic Matchbox toy car line that features die-cast scale models of real-life wheeled vehicles, Sky Busters has offered the same for winged aircraft since 1973. The Matchbox Sky Busters Dream Chaser reproduces the SNC space plane as a 3.5-inch-long (9-centimeter) toy approximately 1:100th the size of the actual orbital craft.

Amazon Launches in Turkey

ISTANBUL (Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc said on Wednesday it had launched activities in Turkey, offering products across 15 categories to customers across the country. “We are committed to building our business in Turkey in the coming months by expanding our selection and delivery options,” Sam Nicols, country manager for Amazon.com.tr said in a written statement.

Turkish Consulate General Relocates Near the UN

The Turkish Consulate General has inked a lease for new offices at Fisher Brothers’ 605 Third Avenue in Midtown East, according to the landlord. The consulate will decamp Durst Organization’s nearby 825 Third Avenue and move down the block to 19,871 square feet at 605 Third Avenue next month. The organization will take over the entire 30th floor of the 1.1-million-square-foot building between East 39th and East 40th Streets. Asking rent in the transaction was in the $70s per square foot. A Fisher Brothers spokeswoman declined to comment on the length of the lease.

Borusan Mannesmann Denied Exemption From Tariffs

A steel pipe manufacturer in Baytown, which received national exposure for an aggressive campaign to get the ears of the Trump administration, has been denied an exemption from new tariffs on foreign steel. In order to avoid the tariffs on steel tube from its parent company in Turkey, Borusan Mannesmann CEO Joel Johnson got creative. In addition to a formal exemption request to the U.S. Department of Commerce, he asked the workers at the Baytown plant to write postcards to President Donald Trump and other government officials.

Turkish Airlines Signed An Agreement with American Express

Turkish Airlines signed a significant deal with American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT), one of the world's leading agencies for corporate travel. With this agreement, signed by Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, M. İlker Aycı, and Amex GBT’s Board Chairman, Greg O’Hara, within today, Turkish Airlines expands its existing collaboration with AMEX to a global partnership, which was on regional scale between 2014-2017 and including just Europe, North America and Asia / Pacific regions. The global carrier who has added the "South America" region to the new joint service area with Amex GBT, will also become one of the airlines supported by Amex GBT at the top level, within the scope of this expanded agreement.
