The Voice of the Turkish Business World in Berlin

Berlin, Germany - Berlin, where the population of Turkish emigrants living outside of Turkey is most dense, also has the oldest Turkish society for businessmen in Germany. The society, which was founded by 28 Turkish businessmen in April 1996 under the name of the Berlin Brandenburg Society of Turkish-German Businessmen, today has 380 members. It is the voice of approximately 9000 Turkish business establishments in and around Berlin. The number of German members constitutes about 10% of the whole.

The Knight of TABA-AmCham

Ugur Terzioğlu was awarded the “Cavaliere Della Rebubblica Italiana” medal in 2005. In addition to Italy, the French government also awarded him the “Chevalier De L’ordre” decoration. Uğur Terzioğlu also is the only person to have served as TABA-AmCham President for two terms.

A restaurant on New York's Madison Avenue.....There are around 40 people between the ages of 25 and 70 near the entrance to the restaurant, in the bar area, talking and reminiscing. What has brought them together is that they are all graduates of Robert College (RC).

Financiers Desperately Seeking Synergy

The Institute for International Education recently announced that there were 11,600 Turkish students studying at American universities in the 2005-2006 school year. Although this was a decrease from the 12,500 students of the previous year, Turkey still ranks as eighth in the world in the amount of students it sends to study in the US.

Sending Hope to Anatolia

One day a lawyer, a company manager, and a businessman sat down together and contemplated how to tackle the lack of books for students in public schools throughout Turkey. In their spare time they formed the Bridges of Hope Project Foundation in November 2005 and in the past two years have provided 11,000 public boarding school students with 16,000 books.

American Capital in Motion

In January, 2004, companies with US capital in Turkey formed an association to foster better cooperation. Since then, the American Business Forum in Turkey (Amerikan Şirketler Derneği), with the support of the American Commercial Attaché, has reached 57 members. Considering that the number of American companies operating in Turkey is 220, this is a remarkable achievement for its first year.
