However, unearthing historical archives reveals an unexpected relationship between the city and the Ottoman Empire.

New York Ataturk Chorus and Incesaz to Perform at the Legendary Carnegie Hall in New York City

New York, NY- On Saturday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m. Turkish and International Music Ensemble brings renowned Turkish band Incesaz and New York Ataturk Chorus to Carnegie Hall. This will be the first time for Incesaz and New York Ataturk Chorus to perform Turkish music at this iconic stage to more than 600 audiences. The concert will begin with New York Ataturk Chorus singing an exciting repertoire of classical songs including polyphonic arrangements that reflect the vibrancy of Turkish music. Led by music director Nedim Katgi on the piano, the Chorus will be joined by eight professional instrument players. Since the chorus’ inception, talented and dedicated volunteer singers from New York Metropolitan area have gathered together with the common purpose of perpetuating the richness and diversity of Turkish choral music for the enjoyment and edification of audiences. The Chorus hopes that the concert at Carnegie Hall will draw attention and interest to Turkish music, promote Turkish music to a wider variety of audiences with diverse backgrounds, develop current audience base and nurture a sense of community and a love for Turkish music.

Supporters of Turkey's Syria op Rally Outside White House

A group of Turkish nationals living in the U.S. on Sunday rallied in front of the White House in support of Turkey's Operation Peace Spring against terrorists in northern Syria. The demonstrators held up signs saying that the PKK terror group, its Syrian offshoot the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its armed branch, the People's Protection Units (YPG), are the same. They denounced the terrorist groups and called on the U.S. government to end support to the YPG. The U.S. partnered with the YPG in its fight against Daesh terror group, despite listing the PKK as a terror organization. Turkey launched Operation Peace Spring, the third in a series of cross-border anti-terror operations in northern Syria targeting terrorists affiliated with Daesh and the PKK's Syrian offshoot the YPG, on Oct. 9 at 4 p.m.

US Withdraws Forces from Observation Post in Syria – Peace Spring

The US withdrew its forces from military observation post in south of Ayn al Arab in northern Syria, according to security sources. The US started to withdraw from Ayn al Arab, also known as Kobani, at 15:00 pm local time 1200GMT. Earlier, US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said that the US is preparing to evacuate about 1,000 US troops from northern Syria. The decision came a week after US President Donald Trump announced that the US would pull back its forces from the Syrian border after a telephone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Tal Abyad liberated by Turkish and allied forces – reports. The city centre of Syria's Tal Abyad district has been cleared of YPG/PKK terrorists.

Colliers International Adds Damla Barrett To New York Leasing Practice as Director

TOA Awards Applications Start

Applications to Outstanding Achievement Awards, Heritage + Diversity + Legacy have started. Awards which are given by the first and only Turkish American business magazine, TURKOFAMERICA, will go this year to those who contribute to the development of the United States in the economic, political, cultural and social areas while preserving their ethnic values.  Award ceremonies have been held in different themes since 2015. The first year, America’s 50 most effective Turks, in 2016, America’s 30 Most Effective Women, in 2017, 40 Turkish-Americans under 40, and in 2018, Friends of Turkey in America were awarded. This year’s awards will be given to those from different ethnicities who have contributed to the communities they live in. Award winners will consist of names from a variety of ethnic groups other than American Turks and take their awards at the ceremony which will be held at U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in Washington DC on November 15, 2019. Applications are to start on July 9 and end on August 15, 2019.

TCA and TUSIAD Leadership Meet with Members of Congress

TCA President G. Lincoln McCurdy and TUSIAD President Simone Kaslowski recently met with Members of Congress to highlight the importance of maintaining the strategic alliance and dialogue between the United States and Turkey. The meetings were set up by TCA on the occasion of the inaugural delegation led by Kaslowski to Washington as TUSIAD’s new president. TUSIAD, i.e. the Turkish Industry and Business Association, is Turkey’s equivalent of the Business Roundtable in the U.S.
