U.S Approves $593 Million Fighter Jet Sale to Nigeria

By PSN - The Nigerian Air force said on Wednesday the United States had agreed to sell fighter planes to Nigeria, as the nation continues its eight-year battle with the calamitous Boko Haram terror sect. The sale of the 12 A29 Super Tucano aircraft, with weapons and services, is worth $593 million. The U.S. ambassador to Nigeria presented the letters of offer and acceptance, the official agreement to make the sale, to the country’s air force earlier on Wednesday, the air force statement said.

Sierra Nevada Corporation Announces Successful Test of Dream Chaser Spacecraft

Last week, Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) announced a successful atmospheric free-flight test of its Dream Chaser spacecraft, signaling the program is another achievement closer to orbital operations. The Dream Chaser is a reusable, multi-mission space utility vehicle capable of transportation services to and from low-Earth orbit, where the International Space Station resides, and is the only commercial, lifting-body vehicle capable of a runway landing. “The Dream Chaser flight test demonstrated excellent performance of the spacecraft’s aerodynamic design and the data shows that we are firmly on the path for safe, reliable orbital flight,” said Mark Sirangelo, corporate vice president of SNC’s Space System business area.

Tesla and SpaceX chief Elon Musk meets Erdogan in Turkey

By The Associated Press - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday to discuss cooperation between his companies and Turkish firms, including the launch of Turkish satellites, a senior official said. Presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin told state-run Anadolu Agency that the two also talked about electric cars and sustainable energy. The meeting took place at the presidential palace complex in Ankara.

Comodo Launches Free Service to Remove Website Malware

Many recent security breaches have been caused by poor website safety, allowing hackers to exploit vulnerabilities to steal data. Cyber security company Comodo is launching a free malware removal service for websites to help businesses stay secure. Once a business submits a request Comodo's security operations center analysts will instantly remove all malware, perform hack repairs, including checking the files, databases and any malicious code running to remove infection from the site, and keep the customer fully updated.

Francisco Partners Acquires Comodo CA business

Comodo Group has announced that the Comodo Certificate Authority (Comodo CA) business has been acquired by Francisco Partners. The news came on the same day that DigiCert announced the completion of its acquisition of Symantec’s CA assets. Both deals happening on the same day caused some surprise around the security markets. The Symantec deal was expected after its problems over the last year with this business. What wasn’t expected was Comodo also divesting itself of its CA assets. Comodo CA is the market leader by some distance.
