'Captain Marvel' Hires 'Fortnite' Composer Pinar Toprak, the First Woman to Score a Marvel Film

Composer Pinar Toprak is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The composer will be the first woman to score a Marvel Studios film. Toprak will score Captain Marvel, which stars Brie Larson as the powerful Marvel hero. Captain Marvel is Marvel Studios' first female-fronted film, and Toprak will be the first woman to score a feature for the studio. "It’s an incredible honor to be a part of the Marvel Universe," Toprak wrote Thursday on Instagram. "So many thoughts racing through my head. And the main one is gratitude."

Cano Ozgener, Founder of OZ Arts and CAO Cigars Dies

Cano Ozgener, a successful cigar entrepreneur and founder of contemporary arts center OZ Arts Nashville, died over the weekend. He was 81. The center announced Ozgener's death on its website Monday. According to the post, Ozgener passed away "peacefully at home … surrounded by family," following a "a long battle with cancer." We profiled Ozgener and his son and business partner, Tim, in 2014 for this cover story on the arts center and its potential significance for Nashville's business community. Turkey Attracts $2.2B in Investments in First Quarter

Turkey attracted $2.2 billion in investments in the first quarter of 2018, according to Investment Support and Promotion Agency (ISPAT) Chairman Arda Ermut yesterday. Speaking to Anadolu Agency's (AA) Finance Desk in Istanbul, Ermut said Turkey also attracted 1 percent of all foreign direct investments in the world in the last 15 years. "We do not see misperceptions in investors who invest directly in our country," he said.

Turkey to Open Anti-dumping Probes into U.S. Companies: Minister

ISTANBUL (Reuters) - Turkey will open anti-dumping investigations into U.S. companies in the wake of new U.S. import tariffs on steel and aluminum, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci was cited as saying by the private Dogan news agency.  “However the USA looks at our products, we will look at their products in the same way. We will launch important processes within a few days,” Zeybekci was quoted as telling reporters in the town of Denizli on Thursday.

Borusan Mannesmann's Baytown Employees Send Trump 4,500 Postcards Asking for Tariff Exemption

Workers and family members of workers at a Texas steel pipe manufacturer have sent the White House more than 4,500 postcards urging President Trump to grant the company an exemption to his recent steel and aluminum tariffs. Employees and their families at Borusan Mannesmann's Baytown plant urged the Trump administration to support a tariff exemption for the Turkish company, which imports steel tubing and casing for its finished products from its parent company in Turkey.

American Friends of Turkey Have Been Announced

Ancient Artifacts Belonging to Famous "Gypsy Girl" Mosaic to Be Returned to Turkey from Bowling Green State University

NEW YORK (May 15, 2018) – The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey signed a Memorandum of Understanding yesterday with the Bowling Green State University for the return of 12 pieces of ancient mosaics to their place of origin, to be exhibited at the renowned Zeugma Mosaic Museum in Gaziantep.The pieces are believed to form part of the framing periphery of the famous “Gypsy Girl” mosaic- symbol of Gaziantep city, discovered in the ancient city of Zeugma, known for its wealth of ancient mosaics, frescoes and artifact.

Congressman Pascrell Complains About President Erdogan’s Guards at Turkish Festival!!!

U.S. Congressman Bill Pascrell, while addressing a crowd at the 13th Patterson Turkish Festival on April 28, said that U.S. Congress takes the May 2017 incident involving an attack on protesters by a group, including Turkish Pre sident Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s security guards, in Washington D.C., seriously, underlining the need for freedom, democracy and respect for everyone.Turkish deputy general Reyhan Özgür showed that he was not happy with the congressman's speech. While Congressman Pascrell says, ’’Largest Turkish-Americans in the U.S. they agree with me,’’ Özgür replies he doesn’t think so.
