Turkey’s Yildirim Sets Financing in Bid for Long Beach Shipping Terminal

Turkish port operator Yildirim Holding Inc. says it has lined up the financing to bid for a major American sea terminal against three other international companies, in a move that will sharply increase its role in North American shipping operations. Company Chairman Yuksel Yildirim told The Wall Street Journal in an interview that he has already met with regulators in Washington who are reviewing a deal that would bring a multiyear concession for the Long Beach Container Terminal in Southern California.

He was chosen as Turkey's champion in 2009 for a Microsoft competition when he was just 18. After working at Microsoft for four years, he established his own company in Silicon Valley in 2013. In the meantime, he also received an education in innovation management at Stanford University.

Toprak says scoring a major comic book movie has “been a dream ever since [she] could remember”. She hired a 70-piece orchestra just to audition, so the producers could see she was capable of leading a full orchestra.

Mustafa Oz was receiving treatment for a while, said the sources, who asked not to be named, due to restrictions on speaking to the media. The sources did not provide further details of his treatment process.

The technology, which was developed in Turkey through the non-governmental organization (NGO) Young Guru Academy (YGA), facilitates the world’s first open platform “smart cane,” which features security LED lighting, integration with mobile apps such as Google, Lyft, and Uber, and voice-command capability.

Coca-Cola Chairman Muhtar Kent to Retire After 10 Years in the Role

Coca-Cola Co. KO, +0.61% said Thursday Chairman Muhtar Kent plans to retire in April, after about 10 years in the role. Kent also served as chief executive officer of the Coke parent from 2009 to 2017, when he was succeeded by current CEO James Quincey in May 2017. The beverage giant said Quincey has been elected to become chairman after the company's annual meeting in April 2019. The stock fell 1.7% in morning trade. It has gained 6.2% year to date, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.22% has lost 1.9%.

Turkey’s Ciner Group Acquires U.S. Property for $22.9 Million

Turkish energy to media company Ciner Group has acquired a 25-foot-wide townhouse on East 55th Street, Midtown Manhattan, for $22.9 million. Ciner Group said that the Manhattan townhouse will be headquarters for a new company that has been established to make $2 billion in commitments. The 8,000-square-foot building is a Tudor-style building arrayed in purplish brick, with terra cotta details. Ciner Group acquired the property from UK video production and distribution company DLT Entertainment, Ltd.

Turkish developer Sedesco is putting together a Billionaires’ Row assemblage with the purchase of a development site for $80 million. Sedesco closed last week on its purchase of the property at 41 West 57th Street from Florida-based seller Asuman Polat, property records filed with the city Tuesday show. The purchase gives Midtown-based Sedesco about 100,000 square feet of buildable area on the block between Fifth and Sixth avenues. The company in 2012 paid $71.5 million to buy an adjacent property at 50 West 58th Street.

The award was presented to Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg; Argentine President Mauricio Macri; Hamdi Ulukaya, founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Chobani; and the late Arizona Republican Sen. John S. McCain. Frederick Kempe, president and chief executive officer of the Atlantic Council, said the Global Citizen Award was launched with three goals in mind. “First, we wanted to identify individuals who represent the sort of leadership and engagement we thought defined global citizenship at its best. Second, we hope that by recognizing these individuals, we could inspire a host of others.
